OpportunityHere at Robern, a Kohler company, we design, manufacture, and market luxury bathroom medicine cabinets, wall mirrors, vanities, and lighting options. We are known as the innovative think tank for Kohler, with product such as AiO with OM (Blue Tooth audio), Vitality with integrated lighting and Uplift Tech (medicine cabinet with vertical lift mechanism). As an intern at Robern, you’ll work under the supervision of our operations engineering team to explore your interests in the manufacturing field. You will work closely with our new product development and operations team to launch new product with a focus on process. There is always a close working relationship with the production floor. This is a hands-on internship that will have designing, building, and implementing a variety of fixtures.
This rotation, focus will be on the following projects:
Manufacturing implementation of newly designed medicine cabinet line: SOP documentation, tooling design and assembly, manufacturing cell design, time studies, process flow analysis, and PFMEA
Plant rearrangement initiatives to improve our space utilization, improve efficiency and process flow, increase volume, and accommodate product line expansions.
Strategically targeted time studies with a focus of analyzing efficiency and balancing lines
Driving continuous improvement projects on our existing product lines, ensuring production continuity
Skills/Requirements
Pursuing an Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred)
Strong analytic and statistic skills
Excellent communication (both verbal and written), problem-solving, creative-thinking, and collaboration skills
Demonstrates experience in influencing and driving changes and improvements
Experience with a variety of hand tools and powered tools
Solidworks experience preferred
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and in teams
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Majors:
Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
Level(s) of Experience Sought:
Intermediate – Some related work or volunteer experience/second internship
Advanced – Previous related work experience/final internship
